Iraq – Christian Refugees
BAGHDAD (AP) _ Iraq has lost more than half the Christians who once called it home, and the U.N. High Commissioner on Refugees says few Christian refugees feel it would be safe for them to return. Iraq’s Cardinal Emmanuel III Delly says when some Christian families recently tried to return to their homes in Baghdad, two Christian women were killed. Sunday in a village outside Mosul, the body of a five-year-old Christian boy who’d been kidnapped a week earlier was found by police, partially chewed by dogs. Last year, the body of Mosul’s Chaldean Archbishop was found in a shallow grave a month after he was kidnapped at gunpoint as he left a Mass.
