Catholic offices moving into original Wendy’s site
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) _ A Catholic service organization that helps fund churches and schools is moving into the site of the first Wendy’s restaurant.
The Catholic Foundation is buying the property, which sits across the street from St. Joseph Cathedral in downtown Columbus, Ohio, and plans to move in next year.
The foundation manages $86 million a year and provides funding for social service groups, Catholic school tuition and support for retired priests, among other causes.
Wendy’s founder Dave Thomas opened the original store in 1969. But Wendy’s closed the store two years ago, saying it could no longer afford to keep the money-losing location open.
