Students Pray Around the Flagpole
BURLESON, Texas (AP) _ Some of the students who got up early yesterday to pray around their school flagpoles before class say it strengthened their faith.
Others say it helped them meet classmates they hadn’t known were fellow Christians.
The annual student-led event called “See You At The Pole” began with a small group of believers in Burleson, Texas, in 1990. Since then, it has spread to thousands of private and public schools nationwide, with millions of students taking part.
Burleson High School Assistant Principal Angela Siffer told KCBI Radio that her two children got up early to participate in yesterday’s 20th annual “See You At The Pole.”
The students prayed for themselves, their schools and their nation.
Siffer says, “We all need prayer, and I see that the students see an importance in that.”
