About the Event
Michael O. Wise, Ph.D., Northwestern College professor of Hebrew Bible and ancient languages and chair of the Department of Biblical & Theological Studies, has served as an expert advisor on the Science Museum of Minnesota’s exhibition, “The Dead Sea Scrolls: Words that Changed the World” (opened March 12 in St. Paul), the largest and most expensive exhibit storyline ever presented by the museum. It is an especially significant event because the Israel Antiquities Authority allows only one exhibit of the Dead Sea Scrolls to be on display in the world at any one time. Dr. Wise’s considerable expertise heavily influenced the creating of the supporting exhibit materials surrounding the scrolls, the result of which is a truly one-of-a-kind experience.

Dr. Wise has written seven books and more than 100 scholarly articles and book reviews on the scrolls, and he frequently lectures on the Dead Sea Scrolls in various venues across the country. Though his knowledge has an impact globally, he focuses a majority of his time on teaching and mentoring students at Northwestern College while engaging in active study and research.

Order your free tickets through the Northwestern Ticket Office

The Dead Sea Scrolls will be at the Science Museusm of Minnesota March 12th to October 24th 2010.

The Dead Sea Scrolls are on display in the Twin Cities.

The Dead Sea Scrolls are on display in the Twin Cities. These ancient documents discovered by a shepherd have been called one of the premiere archeological discoveries of this age. The Dead Sea Scrolls are a collection of ancient biblical documents that go back almost 200o years. They have revolutionized biblical understanding, and given us a great glimpse into the world of the Bible.

The Dead Sea Scrolls will be at the Science Museusm of Minnesota March 12th to October 24th 2010.

Thanks to everyone who entered our Dead Sea Scroll ticket giveaway. Check out some of the comments we recived about great Dads.

• My grandfather Martin who died before I was born was a man of prayer. He prayed that his children, including my dad, would be saved. He also prayed that his grandchildren would also be saved to the third and forth generation would also be saved. I believe that I have been in ministry and now involved in personal evangelism as a direct answer to his prayers.

• This is for my husband – a wonderful Father and godly example to our children. He sings songs of praise with them and talks to them about Jesus and God daily! I am thankful that my children have such a wonderful Father and wish him a very Happy Father’s Day!

• In the last year, through tons of hardships, my husband has been an amazing father to his two boys, Jason and Jacob. He has really stepped up to lead the family through prayer and faith. My faith has been encouraged watching my husband, who is a new believer, talk to his boys about God and what Jesus has done for us.

• I’m Dad and I want to see the Dead Sea scrolls

• My dad’s job usually took him away from home during the week but on the weekends we did alot of fishing. Summer days by the water created many memories and time together. Thanks Dad

• Dad got down on the floor and played with us as little kids. When we were a little older, he built a cabin and took us there every weekend. He made a home-made pontoon and taught us how to fish, his favorite thing to do. He built quite a few homes for us to live in and always made sure we had what we needed, and sometimes we got wants too. He would sew barbie and baby doll clothes for me and my sister, and one Christmas he bought me my own supply of fabric and patterns. My dad made a quilt for each of my children, that are now ragged and stored away in a keepsake box of wonderful memories. Dad was a hard worker, lived his morals before us, and helped people whenever they asked. He’s been gone from this world for six years now, but he’s still very alive in my heart. “I miss you Dad.” Love, Your daughter, Jeri

• Although my father was not a believer, I believe the Lord used him to protect me. When I was young he had taken me fishing with him when the boat we were fishing from capsized. I couldn’t swim and could have drowned except for my father “lifted me up” to hold on to the side of the overturned boat. I still remember him saying ” I still don’t know how I found you, but I just reached out and pulled you up.”

• Actually right now is when I miss my dad. He has been gone a long time but when people talk about fathers day it still gets to those of us who have lost our fathers. He was a kind, wonderful father and grandfather.
